What’s your name?
Hans Zimnoch aka Thunder Wook

What do you do at AllSquares?
My role here is to work with the most skilled technical resources in the Melbourne area, and match them with the best companies. I’m here to understand what my clients and candidates are looking for in order to make a happy marriage between the two. You can find me on the phone, having coffees, or attending meetup events.

Why AllSquares?
I’ve worked in large agency recruitment for over a decade now. I was really attracted to working with a company that shared so many of the same values as myself. Danny and Julien foster an environment of transparency, integrity, and fun. I spoke to a number of other agencies in the Melbourne area prior to joining, but none of them had the same vibe that AllSquares had.

3 Apps you can’t live without?
Apple Music – Hit me up for Playlists

Soundcloud – As a lover of electronic music, it’s my way to find full sets of music.

Maps – Being new to Melbourne this is vital so I know where I’m going.

Favourite drink?
Extra dirty Vodka Martini with Olives, and I do mean extra dirty. I love the crisp taste of this drink. It makes me feel old school and sophisticated when I drink it. Make a good one, and I’m your customer forever.

Favourite food?
After living in Vancouver for a decade, I’d have to say anything Asian. Korean BBQ, Sushi, Szechuan, Thai, Vietnamese. I think you get the idea :) Nothing warms me up in the winter like a steaming bowl of noodle soup, or just the noodles. I’m into all sorts of food, but Asian just keeps bringing me back!

What was your first paying job?
I worked in a women’s shoe store. I mainly hung out in the back unpacking and rearranging stock. All of the old ladies that used to work there came in there to smoke cigarettes. Not the healthiest of environments. But I did feel a bit like Al Bundy at times.

What kind of music do you like?
All of it? Music is my biggest passion. I’ve been to Jazz Fest in New Orleans 3 times, seen my favourite band Phish over 50 times, done 2 solo trips to Ibiza. Can’t wait to check out the music scene here!

What’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
I stopped in Thailand on the way to Melbourne and truly fell in love with it. The people, the food, the night life, the islands. I can’t wait to go back.

What’s your all-time favourite movie or series?
Movie – Apocolypse Now – Obsessed with Vietnam War Movies

Series – The Sopranos – funniest show ever

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I sang at Carnegie Hall with my school choir in 1995 (yes I’m old). I have also been the lead in Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat and Spamalot.

Do you have any pets?
RIP Napoleon

Are you a sports fan? Who are your favourite teams?
I’ve travelled all over the UK to watch Rugby Union, in particular England. Used to go on a bi-annual trip to Dublin with 30 Scots mates in Kilts. Growing up I saw the Blue Jays win the Baseball World Series and travelled all over the States watching games. I also had Toronto Raptors seasons tickets for years, and was so happy to see them win a Championship. Really excited to get to my first footy game.

Do you have any phobias?
Heights? I mean I don’t want to jump out of a plane, but maybe that’s normal?

Have you ever met anyone famous?
I used to drink often with Justin Bieber’s guitar player. I also went to school with the Manager of the Rolling Stone’s children.
